Here on the Gulf Coast of Alabama, it is Mardi Gras season. From Fairhope to Daphne to Spanish Fort to Mobile, the streets are filled with excitement of parades with masked riders throwing beads, moon pies, doubloons, and candy.
But did you know that Mobile is home to the very first Mardi Gras? Yep, in 1703 the French colony of Mobile hosted its first Mardi Gras!
