Does every property need to be staged? Statistics show more and more that professional staging shortens the time on the market and increases the selling price. I recently got a call from a desperate homeowner who had a rental property in Danville, on the market for 6 months and still no buyer. It was now the 2nd week of November and we all know that November and December are not the easiest months to sell a house. The property had been vacant and they had done everything the agent recommended to fix up the house but after 6 months, still no buyer. As her last resort, the homeowner had the idea that maybe she should have it professionally staged and she found Welcome Home Furniture Rental & Staging by doing research on line. I met with her and put a proposal together and we staged it the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Following the staging, they were in contract within 2 weeks!!! Right before Christmas!
It was an older home and had been modified many times over the years. Therefore, the floor plan was a bit unusual. I am sure that most buyers that looked at this vacant home, had a difficult time visualizing how to use the space properly. As professional stagers, Welcome Home brought in new, current, up to date furniture and set up the home in such a way that anyone could move right in. We took away all objections as to the unusual floor plan. By using the proper size furniture and accessories, buyers could then see exactly how to live in that house. Too bad the sellers hadn’t contacted a professional stager like Welcome Home sooner…they might have saved 6 months of house payments and a lot of worry.
