For the curious, the picture was taken yesterday near Porter Creek off Sweetwater Springs Road in Sonoma County. This is in the Russian River Valley between Healdsburg and Guerneville. We've had a very wet winter so everything in the plant kingdom is very happy.

Dave- Ah, I know this area very well. My grandparents lived in Sonoma for over 20 years, after they retired and moved to Sonoma from San Francisco. My grandfather was very involved with the Shriners. My favorite place to hang out was at their home in Sonoma when we lived in Santa Rosa. Every weekend we were at their home. He made his own wine also. And we always had to stop at the Sonoma bakery for fresh sourdough! The best in the world!

I miss that moss, it is so pretty! And it smells delightful. Katerina

That's really beautiful.  Looks magical, almost.  Are you sure there aren't any fairies hiding about?

That reminds me of our beautiful Sea Ranch property we used to own.  We had a ton of ferns and moss in the redwood forest.  This is one thing I definitely do miss.
