Twitter Bowl tweets in Minneapolis

A Doritos commercial from brothers Dave, left, and Joe Herbert finished first in our Ad Meter survey, earning them a $1 million prize from Frito-Lay.

Minneapolis ad agency Colle+Mcvoy measured the chatter about Sunday's Super Bowl ads and report the Frito-Lay Ads had more tweets than all others including Budweiser.

Can you guess the Frito-Lay ad that brought the buzz?  It was the one in which the small boy tells the new boyfriend of his mother's to "keep your hands off my momma and keep your hands off my Doritos."

Mike Caguin, creative director of Colle+McVoy, says the reason he thinks that ad was such a hit was that it was part of the do-it- yourself ad contest.  I don't think it was just the people of Minneapolis but perhaps everyone watching wanting to see less Hollywood and more real life.  You could just feel the truth of what was happening in that scene.

This might be one of the few Superbowls where I feel the game ruled over the ads.  The talk on Monday was about the game and not did you see that ad  That is how I think it should be.

These are tough times out there, so I feel the ad agencies had to play it conservatively.  Not only were the budgets to produce these ads smaller, but the agency did not want to rock anyone's boat out there.

One finale note.  I did get a chuckle out of the Docker ad.  Men of various body types were walking around without their pants on.  It had my husband cringing.  I told him now you know what it is like for a woman to see her sex disrobed on TV.  I don't think he got it.  He still is all for women showing their skin.
