Instant Social Media. New from Google. Oh Jeez.

I think someone at Google needs to have their heads examined. This one is really stupid.

Me too Social Media. Me too cell phone. When does it stop? Does anyone bother to think (other than me) that some me-too follow on products are just going to be a complete waste of time and might piss off your current customers so much --- that they might STOP using your products?

Google is making a big mistake with this one.

Starting tomorrow, your Google Control Panel will soon sport a new word; Google BUZZ on your left side control panel with your Google in box.

Google Buzz

According to Search Engine land and a few other websites who are all armed with a ton of Geeks drooling over what's new is touting Google Buzz as a potential Twitter Killer and a Threat to Facebook.

Fat chance says the Bartman.

It's interruption marketing. One more friggin' waste O time in my opinion.  Google is going to take a perfectly useful tool, called Google Mail and screw it up by junking it up with interruption marketing crap that we do not want.  I like my Google Gmail to be pristine and CLEAN from crap-ola mail. That's why I use Google G-mail and a lot of REALTORS do too.

"This is a step in the wrong direction," says an client of Voyager. "This will be an excuse for our staff to try new social media trinkets and chat it up with their friends and family when I need to be paying my staff and virtual assistants to be working. Not screwing off around another stupid digital water cooler social media do-dah."

I could not have said this any better.

The big time waster on this new Google Buzz is the fact that all replies - chats you have with people now show up as MAIL in your Inbox. So you have more crap to wade through that has nothing to do with Gmail.

But wait, it gets worse -- Buzz will now start recommending you to other people. Here' meet Richard Moron of Planet Zero. He like to invest in real estate.

Google will give you a "NOT INTERESTED," button. But the interruptions will be a thing that Google will want to give you constantly. Apparently Google will improve on this Algorithm over time, but for me -- I'm pretty pissed off that this is going to be coming into my Control Panel on Google and there's nothing I can do to stop it.

It's like having your in laws stop by, and they plant themselves permanently on your sofa and NEVER LEAVE.

But for you Google junkies who can't seem to drink enough of the Social Media Kool-aid, relax. Google has you Mobile freaks covered too. Google will have an APP for Google Buzz so you can waste more of your time and whatever your boss is paying you to kill time by chatting it up with friends and contacts you have in Google.

I'm a big fan of Facebook and Twitter but I am sort of wondering why big firms like Google can't leave well enough alone, especially when a new interruption tool like this one is going to be met with a lot of upset people who love Google Gmail just the way it is.

What's Your opinion of Google tinkering with your Gmail?

Interesting I have not seen this yet. I don't see it as a threat to facebook they are too far out in front but one can always catch up thats for sure.

I got the impression from newspaper articles that it was going to be recommending friends to you based on the senders (and perhaps other recipients) in your e-mails.  Just because someone or a computer sends me a lot of e-mail doesn't mean I want to be that person's or computer's friend.  For example, I receive the daily ActiveRain newsletter and all comments to my gmail.  Will gmail think that I want to become friends with the outgoing newsletter e-mail address or every person who comments on my posts????

I totally agree with your post. I think it is a waste of time and energy.
