Peter Gehres was named the 2010 Michigan Auctioneer Champion (MAC) on January 27, 2010 at the Michigan State Auctioneers Association Winter Convention in Kalamazoo. A field of twenty-two auctioneers entered from three states. Six of the twenty-two contestants made the finals and after a successful Fun Auction, that raised thousands, the Auctioneer and Ringman Champions were announced. The judges for the 2010 MAC included Leroy Van Dyke, B. Mark Rogers, John Hamilton, Ed King and Joyce Braun. This was the fourth MAC Peter had entered and the ninth auctioneer calling contest entered since 2006. Peter won the 2006 Ohio Junior Bid Calling contest in January 2006.
Peter Gehres is a first generation auctioneer from Columbus, Ohio. Peter is an auctioneer and Realtor with United Country/Gryphon Realty & Auction Group based in Columbus, Ohio and works throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Additionally Peter works closely with Belhorn Auction Services, Mike Brandly, Auctioneer and is the co-founder of The Super Auction. Peter is also a professional speaker and teaches at The Ohio Auction School, Reppert School of Auctioneering and Certified Auctioneers Institute. Peter is scheduled to speak at the National Auctioneers Association 61st Conference and Show in Greensboro, North Carolina this July right after he represents Michigan in the International Auctioneers Championship.
Peter was raised on the family farm in Van Wert County, Ohio (Northwest Ohio). Growing up Peter worked with his mother selling fruit and vegetables at the local Farmers Market. In high school Peter learned to weld and was active in the FFA. Peter went on to become an AWS certified welder and taught welding while attending The Ohio State University. Peter attended The Ohio Auction School in September of 2003 and went on to work full time as an auctioneer in the Spring of 2006 after he graduated from OSU with a degree in Agriculture.
In addition to auctioneering and real estate Peter is the Executive Director of The Auctioneer Channel, an online video sharing and networking site for the Auction Industry. Peter continues to manage the family farm which has been in the family since 1875. Peter lives with his wife, Paige, in Columbus, Ohio.
