Development freeze In Port Moody

By

Some representatives from the development community in Port Moody feel as though they've been locked out of the municipality in which they live.

Those sentiments arose from a committee of the whole meeting held Saturday in Port Moody to discuss the evolution of the city's official community plan (OCP), which, among other things, sets out growth patterns and land use designations in Port Moody.

Representatives from the Port Moody Waterfront Community Interest Group say their repeated calls for higher density have been met by "contradictions" and "a bit of insanity

The group from Port Moody belongs to is comprised of area residents and businesses who are lobbying for higher density in the Murray Street area that combines transit-oriented developments with the arts sector and commercial opportunities.

They said "We're not talking about highrise development in Port Moody -- were talking about mid-rise, medium to high density with viewscapes,".

The Port Moody group also stressed that Saturday's meeting in Port Moody was just one in a series of many, and that the public will have the opportunity to weigh in at future Port Moody town hall meetings and other committee of the whole meetings.

I was at this Port Moody meeting Sean, and made an informed comment on this excerpt from the local Now newspaper.

I'm puzzled why my comment was deleted?
