Just What Were They Thinking?

A really bad photographI am planning on teaching a digital photography class for real estate agents in my office.  I am a big believer that good photographs can help sell a house.

So I looked through the MLS for examples of pictures that could be improved upon.

I just had to share this one.  While the home lacks in curb appeal, it apparently has a contract on it.

It appears to me that the agent may have taken the picture from their car.  I admit that once I saw the beast, I would have done the same.

I would be afraid to get out of the car too - Photoshop would do wanders here - at least crop the car out!

It was sold for land value I hope. What does the interior look like?

Bad pics and bad comments can ruin an otherwise acceptable listing.  I saw one on the same middle TN MLS that stated...are you ready...

"great location.  Bus stops right in front of the house!"  It later stated under Realtor Comments:  "Owner desperate for offer - has relocated."

No...I'm not kidding!  It's sad really - this client is relying on his agent to get him the most money for his house in the least amount of time.  Instead he'll probably get low-balled - quick!

I did not get close enough to the house to view the interior and surprisingly their were no interior pictures.  Perhaps the exterior was the best thing about the house.  I do know the selling agent and will find out how much below list price that the home sold for.  Maybe they included the puppy dog to close the sale.

The picture didn't attract me the price did.  By the way, the dog isn't conveying with the property.  Apparently the owner felt awfully attached to the mutt.

OK.. if you really want a funny......   This house was actually a house that was listed (and sold very quickly I might add - and is beautiful now!)...   I was hired to take photos, but then realized that was pretty much a joke...(could hardly breathe inside!)  so I took photos and MADE it a joke.  (now.. this listing was NEVER posted for real... only for a laugh.......)  This house was a crack house I guess when it was listed....

I can hear the banjos playing but in fairness, I'm pretty sure you couldn't get a good photo of that place.  Here's one of my favorites.

Oh...surely you haven't seen what we have to offer here in Hot Springs.

The first is an actual listing photo, the other is on the way to an upscale listing.

I arrest my case.
