Facebook is Buzzing. Are you?

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Killian Properties (Oklahoma & Texas)

I swear, if I have to keep up with one more social networking site, I think I'll scream.  Is that what you're thinking too?  I'm just now checking in to Google's new Buzz so if you're already using it, please tell me why I need yet another social networking site?

If I blog,Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, and  Buzz, when will I have time to actually sell or list real estate?  When will I have quality time with my family without my hands being attached to my laptop keyboard?

At what point is enough, enough?

You are right, unless you have a blog writer, you got to limit it somewhere.

I think we need to look at social networking the same way we look at any networking or marketing that we do in our business and track our time/money versus results.  If your efforts are not producing results in the way of dollars in your pocket, perhaps you need to move on to something else.  After all, if we put a full page ad in the newspaper every week advertising our services and after a year received no results to offset the cost, would we really continue to throw good money after bad?  I think that web site optomization is a better use of my time and money.  Buyers and sellers go to the internet when first looking and that is where we need to capture them.  Networking is an important part of our business but nothing beats old fashion in person networking.  After all, we are in a people business.

Great post and I feel your pain.  I feel like Lucy working at the candy factory....but what is going by is the logo's of all this social networking sites.  Then add to this the face-to-face networking and OMG.  I think we need some balance.

I haven't had time to check out buzz yet, but I agree that there are almost too many sites to keep up with.

You can tell when agents get busy, you see less and less of them on all these sites. I spend two hours a day on the web, two hours a day telemarketing and two hours a day in meetings, rotary, kiwanis, boards etc and 4 hours at my office listing, writing and or reviewing contracts etc.

By far the most leads come from the telephone, last count was 30 to 1 over the net and 10 to 1 over the club meetings. I should do more telemarketing but I choose not to work that hard at this point in my life.
