Ashland Massachusetts - Claudette MilletteEnjoy the Peaceful Town of Ashland MA

In an ideal location midway between Boston and Worcester, the town of Ashland, MA is one of the premium residential suburbs in MetroWest Massachusetts.

Ashland was the original route of the Boston Marathon and still runs through downtown every year. Ashland Massachusetts - Warren ClockThe town of Ashland is considered part of the MetroWest which also consists of Natick, Holliston and Hopkinton.

A prominent citizen of the town was Henry E. Warren who in 1916 invented the first electric clock and founded Telechron which, in partnership with General Electric, manufactured electric clocks in town until 1979.

To honor this invention, Ashland High School sports teams proudly call themselves "The Clockers."

The two major routes running through the town Ashland MA are 135 and 126.  Route 135 emanates from Framingham through Ashland and connects into Hopkinton.  Route 126 provides easy access to the main highways of Route 9 and the Mass Pike leading into Boston for daily commuters.

Ashland Massachusetts - Claudette MilletteFor those who prefer to take the train, the Ashland MBTA station sits conveniently in the center of town offering a welcomed respite from commuter traffic jams.

Having begun its roots as in agriculture, the town grew to more of a residential suburb in the 1980s while still maintaining many lush wooded areas including Ashland State Forest and Ashland State Park.  Before and during the boom, a number of communities were built in town including Orchard Estates, Ballard Hill Estates and Blossom Estates.

The town has a wonderful center with a number of well-known restaurants like Stone's Public House, Nick's Pizza and Mel's Sunnyside Café.

The new Ashland High School, which was built using state-of-the art green energy standards, was also recently ratedAshland Massachusetts - Claudette Millette number 46 in Boston Magazine's Best of Boston schools in the state.

The town of Ashland has the look and feel of a traditional New England town. And with customs like the annual Ashland Day fair, summer gatherings at the Tasty Treat as well as the miniature golf course, it maintains the feeling of a close-knit community.

For an idyllic life in a wonderful suburban town, the town of Ashland, MA is a great place to live.

Claudette:  Ashland, MA sounds like a great place to call home.  I love the photo of the lake with all the autumn colors on the trees.

Claudette - Friends of ours lived in Ashland for a few years. When we visited them, we went hiking and stopped at a local apple orchard, but I don't recall the name. It was in the fall and the foliage was spectacular. This is a very nice write up about the community.

Ashland has some very nice places for hiking.  One place is the Ashland State Park. I lived adjacent to it for a number of years and my cat loved roaming in the woods. I now live on the other side of town, closer to Southborough.  Thanks...
