Put Your Game Face On!

Education & Training with Winning Sales Habits

It's time for the Olympics in Vancouver.  For the past two decades, I've been fascinated by the high level of performance that athletes exhibit under the greatest stress imaginable.  Those that conquer it are called "mentally tough."  Those that don't ... are herein known as "chokers."

Over a decade ago, I had the opportunity to be the Sr. Vice President of LGE Performance Systems (now the Human Performance Institute) in Orlando, Florida, where athletes like Pete Sampras, Monica Seles, Jim Harbaugh, Ernie Els and Olympic speedskater Dan Jansen went to train for mental toughness.

One of the techniques that sport psychology taught was creating a pre-performance ritual that would get you ready.  Before the batter went to the plate, before the basketball player shot the free throw, before the golfer tried the putt, they would get themselves prepared mentally, emotionally and physically to bring out all of their training.

Now, in real estate sales, I see the same challenges.  Extremely talented and skilled professionals fail to "do what they're truly capable of" because they choose to "wing it."  They go from one phone call to the next ... one listing presentation to another ... without even thinking for a second that their mind, emotions and energy needs to be directed ... every cell in the body should be pulling them toward their goals and purpose.

So, do you have a unique "ritual" that gets you ready before a sales call?  Something that gets your thoughts and emotions focused on serving your clients?

Share with me your ideas.  I'd love to hear them.  info@winningsaleshabits.com
