There’s snow business like snow business!

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

Snow in Raymond GA February 2010I heard an interesting item yesterday on the news. The reporter stated that for the first time since records have been kept, that there was at least some snow on the ground somewhere in 49 of the 50 United States! Hawaii was the only exception.

And although most of us are weary of winter weather stories and are ready for warmer temperatures, that really is an amazing declaration. Even Florida had some snow on the ground in it’s northern region.

I’m not suggesting that we are in the midst of a mini ice-age but even the most cynical observer would have to admit that this has been one crazy winter.

On the bright side, I’ve reloaded a new arsenal of snow photos. I’m thinking that I may hold on to some of them until July.

Because quite a few of us have seen enough for one year!

It's El nino at work! It's been rainy and cold even in Sarasota this winter. In the 50's instead of the 70's...

Hi Richard, I had read this and it was incredulous that global warming and Ice Age was mentioned in the same news report. For those that have bought in to the "warming " side of the argument, 50 degrees is the new 70. Just when I thought we were going to get a break when it was also widely accepted that  50 years old was the new 40, hehehe.

Richard, beautiful shot! I never tire of snow pictures, we have been spared for the most part, have a bit of snow here and there but not much.

Richard:  That stat is amazing.  I would never had thought.   Would it count if I packed up a frozen package of snow and shipped it to Hawaii?  ;)

You probably recognize this as Raymond GA on the Norfolk Southern line. There used to be a junction here to Luthersville, Pine Mountain, and Columbus! THX

It's exciting all right, because as you say, it is a rare occasion! Thnks so much.

Spring and baseball ... I like the sound of that! Thanks.

Richard , it is incredible to be watching the Olympics in Canada and seeing there lack of snow while the Mid- Atlantic states have gotten several feet in the last two weeks.

Hang on to the pictures, they are a great historic record and I just love the white up against the deep blue. Stay warm! We are loving the warm up here in the Pacific Northwest.

Save those winter snow photos Richard. Then post them in the middle of the summer when everyone is complaining about how hot it is!

That's a fascinating statistic.  Who would have thought that Florida would have snow but Vancouver is struggling.  This is indeed a strange Winter.

I am so ready for the warmer weather up here.  I looked out the door this morning and it looks as though we have another 2 - 3 inches of the fluffy white stuff on the ground.  I wonder if Canada would like it?

Richard I had hear the same story on 40 of 50 over the weekend with Hawaii being the exception. It also offered that even in Hawaii there is some type of snow that can be found on the higher peaks of the dormant volcanoes, but that there was none this year. And as for the snow photos in mid summer, maybe you can offer up the Christmas in July with snow photos.
