Happy President's Day!

I took these photos about two months ago while visiting the Richard M.Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in nearby Yorba Linda, CA. The museum itself if a great place to visit for many reasons. One of which is this copy of the famous Emanuel Leutz 1851 painting of George Washington crossing the Potomac.

Washington

  President George Washington

No doubt we've all seen this painting many times, yet I can tell you seeing this larger than life copy was a real treat. I just wish I could have captured the beauty my more with my little camera. I've read where there are other copies of this famous work including one hanging the in West Wing of the White House.

Just yesterday I wrote a post on FREE ADMISSION to the museum on President's Day, February 15. So if you're in Southern California you might want to pack up the kids and head over to the museum visit for FREE.

Those are treasures to the nation.  Washington was a truly great individual and general of our army.

Thanks for the free admission news... I haven't had enough of a desire to stop by the library until I read about the free admission.... I'll probably check it out tomorrow.

Hi Jennifer,

Good to hear from you.

My first Prez. Day post was on FREE admisstion to the library, I was hoping that some (especially families) would benefit from free admission. It seems like things can be so expensive today, just like going to the movies can cost $35+ admission,  that to have something to do enjoyable with the family could be a good thing.

The 2nd was to share the photos of the "copy" of the world famous painting showcased at the library.
