We have been doing radon testing in Wisconsin for about 6 years now. Mainly, we have done radon testing in Rock County, radon testing in Walworth County and radon testing in Jefferson County, WI. In that time, it is always interesting to see how the results of our testing go. We have found that radon levels come back elevated (higher than the EPA-recommended indoor radon levels of 4.0 picocuries per liter) on approximately half of our tests. Because of this, we recommend conducting a radon test with every inspection. Here are some interesting statistics we have from our testing in Southern Wisconsin:
Lowest tested level in a house: 0.8 picocuries per liter
Highest tested level in a house: 44.7 picocuries per liter
Average outdoor radon levels: 0.6 picocuries per liter
