A while back I posted some pretty pictures from inside the beautiful Monestary of Professor Lin Yin in Old Westbury, Long Island, New York. It is one way of life and living, following beliefs and respecting eachother. A Peek inside a Monastery: A respectful way of life in Old Westbury, Long Island, New York Long Island also has a lovely Shrine in Riverhead, where many people go to pray and respect a different belief. I'm often suprised that many people aren't aware of it while others flock there for it's peacefulness.

I stopped to visit there recently after a Feng Shui Consultation in Riverhead and am always struck by it's beauty; maybe you will be, too.

Feng Shui consultant New York Beautiful, winding pathways lead you from place to place. This place is very large and there is a lot to see; plan on spending a few hours at The Shrine in Riverhead, Long Island, New York.

I realize the summer is half over and while I've been to many of the places I'd like to go, there are still some I haven't gotten to. Long Island is truly lovely this time of year and there's so much to do. When I'm ready to spend a day driving back and forth, I haven't been out to The Hamptons yet---a MUST see, I go there every year and always find things change there.

I agree... not only does Long Island have some pretty areas, so does so many places within NYC, Manhattan, and Staten Island. I did a blog series on Manhattan about 2 months ago. Thanks for sharing this.... if I am ever in the area, I'll take a visit.

Lizette, I am a night owl...have never been able to break the habit :) Oh, some parts of the Hamptons are spectacular, you've gotta get out to New York one day!

Jeff, Thanks for the comment. I know I am missing beautiful places but I really did try to create a balance this spring/summer of work and play. I am all over New York City but I don't know much about Staten Island.

Jo, I have a feeling you would love it here (and I make a great tour guide). Anyway, I finally have my passport, YOU just might be getting a visitor! This place is lovely, very quiet and serene.

Laurie, you're so close to there! I will actually be out by you on Sunday again. I'm going to stop at the outlets while I'm there. Any good restaurants by there? I don't like those food courts too much.

Cynthia, I'm trying after feeling so cooped up all winter to get out while the getting is good! I also have been fortunate enough to be getting calls from so many different areas, I am able to stop and see things. Blessings to you as well...

Teri, It is really pretty, so many places on the Island are so nice. I keep saying I'm going to leave but I think I just need to figure out a way to become a "snowbird."

Hi Carole ! You are welcome to visit here Anytime. I make a pretty good tour guide too and would love to show you some of the beautiful local attractions. We could even go to Toronto and perhaps Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake....maybe even make it up to Algonquin Park !!

Jo, I was at Niagra Falls when I was very young and can barely remember it; my daughter was there last year and she said YOUR side is the beautiful side of the falls. I just might take you up on your offer, I think flights to Canada are pretty inexpensive and would love to see your bit of the world. I'm getting a bit nervous about my trip, probably just because it's been SO long since I've had a vacation; and wanted to learn more French then just the basics. But I've waited years for this and I wonder what I'm going to replace it with.....I think Italy. Venice, Rome, Sicily. I'm going to reach for the stars and shoot for that next :)

Maureen, it is lovely. I haven't been up to your part of town in a very long time and sure would like to take a drive for a weekend....my daughter would love it too. You've got some pretty wonderful things yourself up there.

Carole- Riverhead is where Option's office is, but having completed the long Lake Grove travel, to me, 35 minutes is up island! I'll make it a point, rather than work from home every day (I'm in the honeymoon phase- just five days out of my travel routine and loving it), to wander around Riverhead. There are a number of "chain" restaurants near Tanger, but if you head east just a bit (up 25) my favorite is the Modern Snack Bar- on your left heading east on 25....cheap, fast, and DELICIOUS!

What a peaceful place that looks like! When I need a little of that I go to the Japanese gardens here in Long Beach. I used to rent houses out in the Hamptons every summer with a small group of friends. We would be out there every weekend and a couple of the weeks over the summer. I loved it out there. Is is still such a 'scene' as it used to be?

Laurie, I didn't know you lived in Lake Grove. I don't mind heading ANYWHERE for good food, I will definitely try the restaurant and thank you---I have only seen the food court in the outlets. There is a restaurant out east called The Elbow Room; they don't take reservations but the wait is worth every second if you like steaks. It even beats Peter Luger's....

You read my mind about a Coach bag, I'd like to have a little class when I'm away!!

Laurie, The place is lovely and SO quiet. I would love the Japanese Gardens, I'm sure. When I was young I went to the Hamptons with my sister every single weekend. Hot Dog Beach used to open very early and we'd literally spend the whole day there! I haven't been there yet this year but they always show specials on the TV.....It's still a scene alright! I will get there before the summer is over.

For those of you who would like to visit the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island, you will NOT find it in Riverhead! I have been here several times and it is located in Eastport, Long Island. I am providing a link which includes directions.

In good weather they hold Mass outdoors.

Laura (and anyone who read this), please excuse my error. It is VERY close to Riverhead and I thought I was still in Riverhead, I did not realize I was in Eastport. I just did Mapquest to see how far it was: Eleven minutes. I will certainly try to be more careful and thank you for pointing it out.

	1:	Start out going SOUTH on PECONIC AVE / CR-63 S toward CR-63 N.	0.1 miles	Map

	2:	Enter next roundabout and take 2nd exit onto E MORICHES RIVERHEAD RD.	6.9 miles	Map

	3:	Turn LEFT onto EASTPORT MANOR RD.	0.9 miles	Map
