January Foreclosures, and Pre-foreclosures Made up 45% of Vacation Home Sales in Southern Maryland

December had a rise in pre-foreclosure and foreclosure vacation home listings, this was followed by an increase in sales of distressed properties in January. Below are charts for Sales of vacation home sales in Southern Maryland (Calvert County and St Mary's county). It shows foreclosures increasing as a percentage of sales over the past 3 months.

I think we are in for a wave of foreclosures yet this year.  A lot are due to the job market and not as much to the declining home prices and values.  It is saddening to see so many people losing their homes that they have worked hard for all their lives.  Let's all pray for a recovery to our national work force soon.

Wow these are troubeling statistics. Its sad that so many people worked their whole lives for a vacation home only to lose it in this economy at no fault of their own.
