Believing vs. Kinda Believing - How Committed Are You?
"One person with a belief is equal to a force of 99 who have only interests."
~ John Stuart Mill, 1806-1873
I'm still not sure why it is, but so many real estate agents that I meet seem to have only one foot in their business. If you had to give an absolutely rock-solid declaration of where you are, would you say you have a BELIEF in your skills and talents as a REALTOR® and in the utmost success of your business ... or are you merely interested in pursuing it, in the hopes that you might somehow make it work?
The thing about a BELIEF in your success is that you know to your core that you've got what it takes. You have the ability to ignore the naysayers ... you sashay right past all those doom-and-gloom folks who use the new economy as their excuse for not getting leads and closing sales. When people tell you it can't be done, that's all the invitation you need to find a way to do it, whether it's sell a million-dollar house, land a high-net-worth client, or hire a dozen new agents.
When you have a BELIEF, you are single-minded in your focus. You know how many buyers and/or sellers you need to meet this quarter to stay on task with your goals, and you have a plan to do so.
No one and no thing can shake you or move you off course when you truly have a BELIEF in yourself. Can you imagine anyone getting in this guy's way? Never!
So next time you find yourself allowing the doubts to penetrate your spiky armor, I challenge you to remember Mill's quote ... and resurrect your core BELIEF about yourself, your skills, your success. It's not what others think you can or cannot do ... it's what you BELIEVE and know to be true.
