OK Everyone! Whether you are a property manager, real estate agent, appraiser, home owner, investor or outside vendor, we have ALL ran into a situation where we went "you have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME and just shake our heads!
I personally have ran into my share of "I can't believe it" stories over the past 20 year, have heard some duzzies and want to hear yours. I am putting together the best of the best and looking into publishing a book that will make us all laugh! If you have any funny situations you would like to share, please forward them to me. If you want them to be considered in this HILARIOUS book, please authorize and give me permission to do so. If that is not included, I will just assume you want to share it with our acitve rain buddies and it will not be considered.
HERE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES: It did not happen to my personal tenant but one of my co-workers and this is one of those where you just WISH you would have been there. HERE WE GO..........
This was an ongoing plumbing problem in a duplex where the toilet was consistantly getting clogged. The tenant on one side was primarily effected. He called and said he again was having problems so a plumber was called out. The plumber decided that to fix the problem they were going to have to run a motorized type snake thru the toilet lines. They began and ran into some resistance and all of a sudden they seemed to have broke thru what they thought was the clog or problem. Called the property manager and said they were finished and to let them know if there were any further problems. IMMEDIATELY after the vender called, the phone rang. It was the resident on the other side of the duplex. He was frantic!! He said "I need to move and I need to move now!" When asked what the problem was he said "this place is haunted!" Of course the manager thought they were dealing with a "nut". The manager further asked what the problem was and he said "I was sitting in my living room and heard some noise coming from the bathroom area, I walked to see where it was coming from and saw my shower curtain spinning around and around - I have a ghost!" What had happened, is the plumber did not know that the lines were joined and when they "broke thru" it was not the clog it was the T-line and the snake had came up thru the toilet on the other side and got a hold of this poor guys shower curtain.
The situation eventually was resolved. It was just a good thing this poor guy was not sitting down!!!!!
