Do you ever have the feeling that we are TOO connected? Facebook, Twitter, E-mail, Blackberries, I Phones…And then we have the Wii, X box, DS…
My wife and I facilitate a class at the church, Growing Kid’s God’s Way. In the video last week, Gary Ezzo tells of a time when his dad was coming home from work and the young Gary wanted to go fishing alone. He wanted to go fishing so incredibly much. This probably took place 60 years ago.
As I watched that scene, It hit me, “Would our kids want to go fishing, or to go for a walk, or to go bike riding? It seems that electronics consume them and often times us! In fact, I’ve noticed at birthdays and Christmas, that if the gift is not electronics, video games and such, that they are not really interested. Can you imagine the look on their faces if we were to give them a book?
It made me think that maybe we should have periods of time when we all just turn everything off. No TV, Wii, Facebook, Twitter, E-mail… what a concept.
Just something to think about.
