Just a quick blog about the Texas Association of Realtors Winter Meeting.  So far there are some good sessions.  Yesterday's class was on the Code of Ethics and the Professional Standards committee's duties in judge claims against realtors and brokerages.  It's great information to have when trying to improve the industry and see problems before they become your problems.

Today I spend the afternoon in the Lone Star CRS committee meetings.  It's odd to me that me and my friend, Leslie Wilson, are the youngest ones here.  Why is it that traditional certifications and the boards themselves are not attracting the younger, techsavy agents into their ranks.  One possible answer is that the leadership of those organizations don't reflect the demographic they're looking to attract.

I highly suggest people get the CRS and GRI designations.  But CRS and NAR need to get the Active Rain generation of agents.

Hi Bob... I think what would really help with the interest level of "traditional" designations is a broader marketing campaign to educate the public about them.  Many agents I have spoken to and many consumers have mentioned to me that nobody other than other agents even knows what all our designation initials stand for or represent, so agents see no value in spending the time or money to get them.
