Sunday October 15th, 7:07am...

Every Sunday morning during football season of course, I make it a point to wake up early so I can catch the early morning games.  Yesterday was unlike any other Sunday until about 7:10am.  My body started to vibrate a little and my vision seemed slightly blurred.  First thought was that my stomach was grumbling and I should get a bite to eat.  Few seconds went by and instead of the shaking dissipating it started to get worse.  About 8 seconds or so in to the shaking, my TV (42" Plasma mounted on the wall) started to move front to back about 3" or so.  Books on the bookshelf turned to its side, all the windows were making a noise that sounded like you were in a wind-tunnel.  At that point it was pretty obvious what was going.

The earthquake as you all may know measured 6.5 and since been upgraded to 6.7 on Kona according to the U.S. Geological Survey.  Where I was on Oahu it was said to be in the 4 range which wasn't even close to what residents on the Big Island felt.  There didn't seem to be much damage anywhere on Oahu that I seen just an extremely inconvenient day with no electricity for about 16 hours in my area.

If any realtors on the Big Island see this, could you post your experiences and photos if you have any.

Mahalo for reading and hope all is well where you are at!

OOhhh....that was scary.  I've never experienced anything like that.  I'm on a low floor in my building and I'll never forget that sound.  I was still sleeping and woke up to that rumbling sound thinking that the dryer was still on then seen the walls move as though it was liquid.  I thought the building was coming down because North Korea was bombing us.  We just put sanctions on North Korea the day before.  I ran out to the living room when it stopped.  I ran out on the lanai to see if I could see anything and looked down when the security guard from my building came running out.  He looked up at me and asked "Are you ok?" and as soon as I said "yea", he says "what the $@#% was that?".  He looked as shaken up as me.  We don't experience anything like that.  I'm scarred for life.
