Mark your Calendar for a March Maple – Syrup demonstration & Horse- drawn wagon rides.

Bethlehem New Hampshire. March 13,20,21,27 & 28.

Bethlehem, N.H.—Enjoy the “New Hampshire Maple Experience” at The Rocks Estate this spring. From tapping trees and learning how maple syrup is made to horse-drawn wagon rides and tasty treats, the Maple Experience program is a Rocks favorite.

The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, which owns the 1,400-acre Rocks Estate, partners each spring with area inns and other businesses to unveil the sweet mystery of New Hampshire’s delectable maple syrup and provide hands-on learning.

“Illustrating what we have to offer north of the Notch is always on our minds at The Rocks,” said Nigel Manley, longtime Rocks Estate manager. “The idea of the Maple Experience is to collaborate with other area businesses to provide fun and education for families and visitors of all ages.”

Maple Experience participants will learn how to identify the sugar maple trees that produce the sweet sap for making syrup, discover the history of maple sugaring, and see part of the process demonstrated.

Fourth-generation sugarer Brad Presby will demonstrate the modern technique for sugaring in the newly restored Sawmill/Pigpen building at The Rocks. The turn-of-the-century building has been renovated to serve as a sugar house and year-round maple education center featuring maple sugaring artifacts from the extensive collection of the late Charlie Stewart, a legendary sugar maker from nearby Sugar Hill.
Polly’s Pancake Parlor…will be part of the Fun and fabulous food.
In continuing with its tradition of partnering with area businesses, the Rocks has again teamed up with the famous Polly’s Pancake Parlor in nearby Sugar Hill to offer a tasty twist to the popular sugaring program. The Parlor will offer an abbreviated menu at The Rocks from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day of The New Hampshire Maple Experience. “We are so pleased to be able to team up with the Rocks again this season,” said Kathie Cote, co-owner of Polly’s. “This is a natural fit that will add to the visitors experience at this years’ maple program.” Polly’s waffle and pancake mixes will be available for sale again this season.

What a great way to have some quality family time!  It would be not only educational but tasty too!  Polly's Pancake Parlor sounds like a wonderful idea!  The name alone is appealing to me!

My husband just loves Maple Syrup.  Me- I like a lot of butter on my pancakes.  Wish we were closer, the horse drawn wagon and watching the syrup making process both sound like a lot of fun.

This is the three weeks of maple syrup harvesting in NJ!  Not a real big business around here, but sounds like fun!

Sharon...What a combination the forest society manages the land and the Estate is used in so many cool ways, this is a perfect example of preservation and family events coming together.

Maple syrup, now your speaking my language!  I may have to see if I can make it that way if my son doesn't have hockey that weekend.

Steve I have to post a couple of pictures that I took today when I get some time.  One of my neighbors taps maple trees around here for surp, and then produces it for sale.  It is a real interesting process.

Steve, We would love to be there for all the fun, food and family but it is a bit too far from our home in south Texas.  I would like to be able to ID the proper trees to tap, there is a state park just west of our home 5000 acre "Lost Maples State Park."  It has the big tooth maple trees they say made the trip down with the last ice age very scenic with high elevations and great hiking trails.

Don, I must say I have never pictured Texas the way you describe it, it sounds lovely.

Steve, So many people just don't know how much Texas varies in the type of landscapes that are here. From the beautiful Texas coast to the over 8000 foot mountain elevations.  Our area has a varied mix of lower mountains 3000 feet to the many spring feed rivers so clear.
