Do you know where your RE license really is?

Real Estate Agent with Homestar Real Estate

Well this weekend i received an odd call, my broker, he had to ask if I had something to tell him....

this was weird. What had happened was that he had gotten a letter from the DRE indicating that my license was no longer with him but had been placed somewhere in San Diego, mind you I am in the Inland Empire-that would have been some commute. My broker has been on the phone for a majority of the day still trying to find out what happened....Apparently I moved, too.  The DRE doesn't know how this could have happened and don't know who put in the transfer,SCARYYYYY. This was done 2/9/10 and were on the 22nd day of Feb.  they couldn't just email him a notice it had to go snail mail. so my question to everyone, any DRE employee's can answer...How could this happen? If it happened to me, it could happen to you as well...

Did DRE explain what their procedure is for transferring a license?  Who can initiate it and what proof of identity is required?  This foul-up costs your broker and you a lot of wasted time and worry.

Very strange.  I have seen this happen once before.  I had gotten notice in the same manner from the DRE and asked the agent what happened since he was sitting 20 feet away.  He was a bit stunned.  Sorry I cannot remember how we handled it then but this is not the first time.  Good luck. ~Doug

Rick & Cari, I wanted to get back to you cause, this might be the small oversight in the DRE. Do you know this can happen to anyone!!! We don't have to initiate anything, in this case the transferring broker got my license by ONE DIGIT ERROR! He wasn't intending to change my license but did it in error!! Can you beleive how easy this is...We have been working with the DRE to explain this was an accident, yeah it cost alot of time and wasted energy!! Nothing was ever said from DRE regarding how easy this could happen.....I wonder how many other errors are walking around?
