Winning Teams

Historically I have always been stronger in the second half of any challenge whether it was business, academic or athletic.  I am happy to be in the second half of this starting over program.  Learning new systems is not smooth and easy; you are stretching yourself to take on new skills.  Working in this system of real estate I am being taught not to put any emotion into the result, but it is difficult to be focused on doing your best and not putting any emotion into it.  I guess it is true that the more you have going on, the larger your database, the stronger your daily activities are the easier it is to be non-emotional about any single event.

Staying Focused

This week will be an important one, while I am not staying on pace with Sanford’s System of promotion—I think he has suggested 4 or 5 mailings and promotions in these first 46 days and I just haven’t had the finances to do all that promoting yet—I am staying fully focused on daily good activities.  Sometimes with these books and seminars we attend you have to guard yourself against feeling as though you are not doing enough.  Most often the speakers are giving advice they worked on for years and are instructing you, the student, to complete the same work in a matter of weeks and months.  It just doesn’t work that way.  The real key is to not be frustrated with what you are not doing, but focused on what you are doing and do it well.

At this point I am supposed to have my schedule all worked out and I don’t.  I do have my mornings figured out.  I blog then I blab.  That is I write, study and research first thing in every morning to get my mind straight and focused on my tasks at hand, and then when the blogs are up and out I get to my phone calls, return calls and outreach.  It is the afternoon that is still out of control.

Searching in Dallas

I am letting the activities of the day dictate my afternoons and today I will work on developing a way to handle all the little details that get in the way.

TALE OF THE TAPE—Day 48 of 90
Two signed agreement for buyers rep, one closing in place, introductory promotional pieces out and working for me, web site re-configured and getting populated with good information, a daily blog are some of my first half successes.  Now I want so much more for the second half.  I am getting into the good habits that are being laid out for me not only in the Sanford book, but also the Zeller book Champions and what I am hearing from the top producers I am meeting and speaking with.  I will take the emotion out of the outcome of these tasks and put my belief where it belongs—the daily habits of a successful agent.  Along the way I will share what I am learning and what is actually working.  Off to the hunt for another day, focusing on afternoon control.
