Google Buzz - I Like it!

Google surprised us all with the roll out of Google Buzz a couple of weeks ago, but I like it!

The reviews so far have been all across the board with some people loving it and others hating it.  I find it is extremely easy to use and seems to fill a niche between Facebook and Twitter.

As a photographer, one of the things I really like about Buzz is how easy it is to insert photos, and also to view photos in other people's posts.  Google now owns Picasa, which is a free photo organizer/editor and integrates very nicely with the (also Free) Picasa Web Online.  Picasa works on both Windows and Macs.  If you have photos on Picasa Web Online, it is a snap to insert them into a Buzz post.

I would sure like to have some of my ActiveRain friends on the "Buzz" with me, so send me your gmail address and I'll follow you.

Pierre - It's a little like Twitter, but you can write longer posts and include photos right in it.

Hi Leslie, I know - I'm still trying to figure out the best way to blend and integrate all of these social networking sites.

Troy - I just got spammed/phished from my twitter account a couple of days ago.  It appeared to be a direct message from an Activerain person who I'm familiar with, but it lead me to a site phishing for my twitter login info.  Be careful out there - online!

I'm hoping that Google has the "muscle" to do a better job of mitigating this sort of thing.  I think they have about the best email anti-spam of anyone.

I just wish Picasa worked with the RAW format for photos, but for now I have to work in the JPG format to get things going. Then download desperately my RAW files and put them in another folder.

C Lloyd - you bet.  There are so many options available it's hard to choose sometimes.

Michael - I bet it will still be there whenever you're ready to make the leap.

HaHa!  Jim, maybe I used the wrong word - - "chasm" may have been the better choice.  :-)

I know, Todd.  Too bad, more companies don't support Adobe's attempt to standardize formats with their DNG raw format.  For now, I don't think any of the online photo sites support raw.
