Snow? But this is Myrtle Beach!

By

Ok, I know I have been inactive for ...far too long!  I love ActiveRain and logged in to write a proper blog post, but then something crazy happened and I have to let everyone know.  It is snowing...in Surfside Beach, South Carolina!  That just does not happen.

Well, actually it happened two weeks ago as well.  But other than that, this is the beach! =)

I thought I would share some pictures.  The snow we had in the middle of February this year was the best kind of snow.  It was just enough to cover the grass and the beach, but did not stick to the roads or sidewalks so it wasn't treacherous.  It was pretty and melted within 24 hours.

That's my kind of snow!  No shovel required.  I hope everyone around the country is having a great winter (but is gearing up for spring).

Just for giggles - this is my puppy (well, she's a little old lady but acts like a baby) getting ready for the snow.  She was not a fan:

P.S. I do not dress her up often, but she shakes so hard it naers explosion when the temperature drops under 50.

In the time it took me to write this (ten minutes tops), the snow stopped and the sun is now shining brightly!

Jenn, Wow, twice in one year, that must be a record in Myrtle beach???

We have snow here again, I amlosing track of storms this year, not sure if this is the 3rd or 4th storm of the season that might dump another foot of snow.

Welcome back, Jenn -- I have missed you -- like you, this was my kind of snow -- comes in the evening, is beautiful in the morning and is gone by evening.

Wow!  I was born in New Jersey and have family still up there and they keeping saying it's crazy how much snow they have gotten!  I do not miss snown blizzards!  I'll take the Myrtle Beach 'snow' once a decade.

But yes, I think twice in a year/month must be a record for this area, although today's snow didn't stick at all.

Jenn,

Lovely post and picture, it seems Mother Nature has sent the white stuff in the oddest of places.  Love your doggies ensemble, very fashionable.

Haha, Jody, thanks but snow isn't something I miss living at the beach! =)  Come to SC, I'll share some sand with you - we have tons of that.

Isn't that something? Nature can be so goofy. I love the dog. She's dressed for the sleigh ride.

Good thing I had that little jacket!  She wouldn't step on the snow.  I had to place her in the middle of the yard. It was quite entertaining but she was not amused.

Hey Kristin - Yes, crazy weather we're having...I'm not a huge fan because I don't enjoy the cold.  Kahlua liked her outfit more than she liked the snow. haha

Hi Jason!  That is one of the bigger snowmen I have seen from the snow we had around here - most of them were tiny!  Hopefully I"m back for good but I may need a nudge once in a while.

My son, who is also an agent, lives in Mt. Pleasant and had the best time taking our 3 year old grandson out to make his first snow angel and have a snowball fight,

Hi Mary - she is funnier than she will ever know. hehe

Michael - It was so fun driving around the next morning and seeing all the little snowmen in the yards!  Every other yard had a snowman (and almost no snow in the entire yard from making it).  Very cool!

Love the pictures-the dog cracked me up!  How cute!  A couple weeks ago they said on our news that 49 states had snow somewhere-set a record.  Yuck!  We have 3 feet right now and more on the way.

I know this is an old post but I have to tell you an amazing story. The morning of February 25, 2010 I was headed to Columbia to be with family because my mom just passed away the night before. Two weeks earlier we had made a snow woman of my mom, with a necklace and a shopping bag! My friend who was riding with me, said a prayer that god would give us a sign that mom was with God; it began to snow!! It snowed heaviest near the Bojangles on 544 where mom always said she liked to eat on the way to visit me!

Side note - she passed the night before sitting on a love seat with my dad, Her last words were to him: "I love you George!"
