Pillar To Post - Queens County New York
Amanda's Law just went into effect for NY State for Carbon Monoxide detectors in Single and Multi Family dwellings and was prompted by the death of a teenage girl early last year.
I just found this page link today and wanted to get it out to everyone. Not because its a new law, but because it's something that can save a life. Al too often I go into homes and there are o smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detectors. This is a shame because they are cheap to buy, need barely any maintenance besides an annual battery change and anyone can install them.
Carbon Monoxide is a byproduct of fuel burning appliances and can be deadly. It has no odor and can buid up rapidly in a home, especially in winter when the heating system is running and the home is closed up.
Any home with fuel burning appliances, especially gas appliances needs to have Co detectors installed.
I urge everyone to get carbon monoxide detectors in their homes or apartments as they provide a great level of safety. Remember Carbon Monoxide ...is a silent Killer. You can't smell or hear it, it just overcomes you and you may Not wake up!!
The below is a page with a summary of the new law and effective date.
