Is It Me or Are the New RESPA and HVCC Rules Ridiculous??

By
Real Estate Agent with The Real Estate Marketplace

I would love some insight and feedback here.

Why does RESPA require the SELLER's costs on the BUYER's good faith estimate?

And is the appraiser now a sacred cow? Do you think the lender ordering the appraiser is going to fix market frenzy?

What do YOU think?  I am trying to NOT have a knee-jerk reaction to all of this, but in my day-to-day experience, I get my practical insight, analysis and education from my lenders.  And what I am finding out is that we are seeing an increased layering of bureaucracy to the home buying process.  Especially for TRUE first-time home buyers.  And when I say "TRUE" I mean folks who have never held title to a piece of real estate.  They were not involved in our real estate meltdown.  Well, not directly anyway.

My point is, is that it seems that the children are being punished for the sins of the fathers.   The process was so easy before (relatively speaking, of course).  Does it sound like I am pining for the days of old?

Who is with me???

It isn't you....the new RESPA and HVCC rules are out of line!! There has definitely been an 'over-correction' in the industry and the overall blame lies with the government!  Poor fiscal policy got us here and the belief that 70% of Americans need to own homes!  This one is going to take several more years to recover from...
