A Labor Day Call Brought a Valentine's Day (Almost) Closing

It was one of those Monday holidays and I was preparing to leave for a family get together when my cell phone rang. I thought it might be my daughter calling to ask me to pick something up on the way, but the number displayed was not familiar.  I answered it anyway.

The caller (soon to become my client) was shocked by a "real" person's voice and not a recorded message.  He and his wife were parked in front of one of my listings and wanted more information on the property.  The house was in escrow but I offered to follow up and send similar properties via email.  We exchanged contact information and went on with our holiday plans.

I kept my word and sent the information promised.  The prospective buyer responded with gratitude and enthusiastically reported back to me on each listing of interest.  The prospective buyer became a student of the market and soon recognized the best buys in the neighborhoods of choice.

The journey from call to closing was not a straight line adventure.  There was a short sale, a multiple offer loss and finally the multiple offer win.  Christmas Eve brought good tidings and joy when their offer was accepted. Next came the long and winding road to loan approval.

It was only appropriate the keys to the home were delivered Valentine's week.  Let the revelry and remodel begin!

Lori - It was great to exceed the prospective buyer's expectations--he said he expected to leave a message as it was a holiday.

Bob - We never know which call will be the one that pays--that's why it is a good policy to answer them all.
