Thank you to Tim Ireland (Re/Max All Properties in New Lenox, IL) for this post out of the Lincoln-Way Area of Will County.  It provides excellent information for those within the industry ... as well as the residents of each village.  It contains proof that the local municipalities/governments are addressing the issue of vacant and foreclosed properties within their borders.  It also informs as to what the costs will be and how registration of properties will be handled currently within each town.

For further information, I suggest that you click and read the entire ordinance ... or contact the village hall within each town.

The New Lenox Village Board has passed an ordinance which would require the registration and inspection of properties that are vacant and/or foreclosed. The draft ordinance requires any foreclosed property and/or a declared vacant property - unoccupied for six (6) consecutive months or greater or unoccupied for ninety (90) days to be registered with the village. The Association had met with Village officials prior to the passing of the ordiance to try to better clarify and minimize these items. Click here to read the ordinance.

The Village of Mokena is requiring all foreclosures to be registered with the village at a cost of $100. No inspections are required.  (Ref MORE)

Thanks Gene and Tim, I am bookmarking this.  We did have this info in the Three Rivers Association bulletin, but not the whole ordinance.  It's a sound policy for the times.
