It's a gray day in Motor City. Not a creature is stirring....not even a mouse. It's the kind of Saturday you just want to pull the covers over your head, or curl up with a good book by the fire. Doing this would be soooo easy on a day like this.
But wait... Autorama is here. As a classic car buff what could be better on a snowy day like this than to enter a world of glitz, glamor and show cars. All that sparkling chrome and gleaming paint under bright lights is enough to entice any car aficionado out of hibernation.
It's even worth braving the freeways to head downtown and lock horns for a parking place just to cast eyes on those curvaceous customized marvels of Detroit engineering and human imagination.
Autorama is a tradition in Detroit that's been going on for years and at $18 a ticket it's a bargain for the entertainment value. What could be could be more fun on a dreary Saturday than hod dogs and hot rods.
There's something about bright lights and customized automobiles that stirs a guy's senses. We can, if only for a few hours imagine ourselves cruising down the avenue in one of those beauties...or going where-ever the open highway leads us.
Now if I can only convince my good wife to join me life will be perfect. You're welcome to come along as well. The hot dogs and soda are on me....but please..... keep the mustard off the Mustang!
