Is your Mortgage Consultant for Life?

Mortgage and Lending with Draper and Kramer NMLS# 189006

I get alot of grief for using a signature line that says "Your Personal Mortgage Consultant for Life" from co-workers and friends.  Admittedly it does seem a little cheesy.  I use this signature line on everything.  I have it on my email signature, my post cards, my business cards, my web site, and my newsletters.

I can see where it can seem as if I may not be there for life.  But I don't have plans of getting out of the mortgage profession any time soon.  I love my job, I love helping people achieve their dream of home ownership.

About a week ago, I received a call from a past client.  She was looking for some assistance with her association.  Apparently the board has changed and she did not understand the letter received in regards to the new insurance requirements. After working through it with her, she sent me an email:

RE: liability insurance

I could not believe it was 5 years ago! And you mean it when you say you are "for Life". That will stay with me, hope your family is well too Kim, take care and enjoy the summer. Thanks for the contacts, Laura

The first call she made was to me.  As a mortgage lender, I do not just provide my clients with a mortgage and send them on their way.  I let each and every client know that after the closing I am available to answer any questions they have.  I get calls about junk mail with ridiculous advertisements for rates at 1%, about HOA's, changing insurance companies, asking to be referred to a service professional, etc.  My job and my relationship with the client does not stop at the closing table.

Of course there will always be those that call and say, Hi this is so and so, you probably don't remember me.  I can say that I remember about 90% of my past clients.  I form a relationship with them, so that I remember them and they remember me.

Make jokes, laugh if you will, but I am Your Personal Mortgage Consultant for Life!

What tag line do you use?

Kim, I think that is wonderful and that you should be proud of yourself for the kind of success that you are now. I have heard similar things from my friends who had scoffed at me for certain titles or tag lines, but I really pay no mind to that. If your clients feel that way about you then it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks. Bottom line. Good post :)

Jacob...  You are absolutely right.  I really haven't paid any attention to them, otherwise I wouldn't still use it.  It is nice when a client acknowledges it!

You go girl!!  There are so many people who don't take their clients past the closing table...and therefore they too expect you to drop off after awhile.  GOOD FOR YOU for following through and standing out in the crowd!!  People really enjoy "those kind" of surprises in life!!  Keep it up!!

KIm, that's true, I do the same and I am not a copy cat, but I will keep seeing them or speaking with them, after years :) a good relationship with your clients give them more trust.

what about if you do not live for life? If we die tomorrow? so we will be for life? LOL, just teasing you.

I had a guy tell me that I was being presumtuous by using that statement.... and that it was up to HIM to decide if I would be his lender for life.

I told him that he was off the hook.... he could go elsewhere next time.

Some people just don't get it.
