Okay so Sidney Crosby put the final goal in. Does this surprise anyone? The man is a genius. One of the most talented hockey players I've ever seen.
This was almost bitter-sweet for me. Crosby plays for America-- most of the time. He is one of my all time favorites and he plays center for my beloved Pittsburgh Penguins, right here in the good old U.S.
So even though I wanted team U.S.A. to win, it was kind of nice to see such an AWESOME player become a national hero today. Now get back here to Pittsburgh Mr. Crosby and continue to do your city proud.
But my gambling friend has another take on it altogether: Right after the third period, before the game even went into overtime, he called me screaming that the "U.S. just won!"
He was so spastic that I could barely understand what he was talking about. Finally, he calms down.
"Dude! The spread I took was 1.5 points for the U.S.! The game isn't 2/2 it's 2/3.5!"
So even if Canada won in O.T.-- as they did-- the final score would be Canada 3, U.S.A 3.5
Now please don't think I'm being petty. Canada won and deserved the medal.
I'm just saying that everyone in Vegas who bet on team U.S.A. is just plain losing their minds right now. Vegas lost tonight. They lost to team U.S.A.
That's something, isn't it?
Anyway, the better team took home the gold, but a silver in Hockey is nothing to sneeze at. Great job guys!
And congratulations to everyone's favorite Canadian ActiveRainer, Fred Carver!
