According to a recent national study, by the University of Wisconsin's Population Health Institute, Forsyth ranked third in overall health among

counties in Georgia. Trailing only Fayette and Oconee Counties, Forsyth Co. fared better in nearly every category than state statistcs.

The study, looked at more than 3,000 counties in all 50 states, measuring them in health and longevity. Using five measures to account for overall

health including the rate of people dying before age 75 and low birth weight rate. Also considered were the number of days people said they were in

poor physical or mental health.

Forsyth ranks second in the state for healthy influences. These consist of health behaviors, clinical care, physical environment and social and

economic factors.

People who live in healthier counties tend to have higher education levels, are more likely to be employed, have access to more healthcare providers

and have more access to healthier foods, parks and recreational facilities, according to a report on the rank of overall health of every county in the

U.S. from the University of Wisconsin’s Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF)

The things that make Forsyth County great are the very things that are inspire people to care about themselves and that care about one another

Things like the Big Creek Greenway, Sawnee Mountain, and Lake Lanier.
