Existing Home Sales Raise in Florida

By
Real Estate Agent with Riverside Homes

I love good news, and what I love even more is to broadcast good news that I read regarding the real estate industry. A new report from the latest housing data released by Florida Realtors® organization states that Florida’s existing home sales rose in January, marking 17 months that sales activity has increased in the year-to-year comparison.

“Now is the time for anyone thinking of buying a home in Florida to make that decision,” said 2010 Florida Realtors President Wendell Davis, a broker and regional vice president with Watson Realty Corp. in Jacksonville. I agree as the St. Augustine housing market is seeing increased sales, with conditions still very favorable with still-low mortgage rates, a range of homes for sale in St. Augustine and attractive prices. Buyers are realizing that they need to accelerate their plans because a purchase contract must be in place by the end of April to take advantage of the extended and expanded federal tax credit. I believe that we will continue to see this increase of sales of homes in St. Augustine through next month.

Thanks you Marie, I think the tax credit combined with the snowy winter in the NE US helped make our numbers grow.  So, I say let it snow!

The big picture is brighter yet there still remains areas with doubt. Here in Brevard County, with the end of the Shuttle Program, and Obama killing the Constellation program, the outlook is for 23,000 to lose jobs...ouch!
