After 4 years of improving success in the CIF playoffs, the Palos Verdes High Girls Water Polo Team won the CIF Southern Section Div. II CIF Championship on Saturday by defeating their nemisis Laguna Beach 6 to 5. "It hasn't really sunk in yet. I don't really believe it," Palos Verdes senior Molly McBee said, in somewhat of a championship daze afterward. "This has been four years coming." Palos Verdes kept forging ahead in the playoffs with two straight quarterfinals appearances and a semifinal run last season until finally reaching this years Division II final.

Palos Verdes avenged an earlier season loss to Laguna Beach by the score of 10 to 5. The Seniors on this team went 4-for-4 in Bay League titles and compiled a 33-1 record in the Bay League over the past four season. The Sea Kings were led by Princeton-bound Molly McBee (93 goals), USC-bound Colleen O'Donnell (25 goals, defensive stopper), Marist-bound goalkeeper Ali Solaro (245 saves), and sophomore Monica Vavic who emerged as the Sea Kings' leading goal scorer with 97 this season.
The Palos Verdes Girls Team joins the boys water polo team in winning CIF Championships this year, certainly making the Palos Verdes High Water Polo Team the Premier Water Polo program in Southern California.
