In a way it was nice to see the Canadians take the gold.
And yes congradulations to ALL the athletes that competed not for themselves , but their countries.
Enjoy your day
Don,
Thank you for visiting this post and for commenting. Have a great day!
Monique,
They are big and tall! It is always a good idea to make sure you leave plenty of distance between a moose and you, should you ever see/encounter one.
Gerry - That's a VERY large moose, even for Montana! My sister, who lived in Montana for awhile, tells me they can be VERY ill tempered. She lived through the Alaska earthquake back in the 1960s, and told me, she and her family stood in the doorway and looked out back to a surreal scene, where the railroad ties were snapping and flying into the air, and a moose on their property was provoked by a tree which kept moving. The moose was butting the tree because of it!
I love Moose Monday....just love it! Start every week with a moose and you are heading in the right direction.
Hi Gerry, Great shot of that bull moose, I guess they are not much into posing for the camera and you got him anyway!
Myrl,
That is a very interesting moose story you shared with us. Thank you. That confirms that moose are wild animals and they can easily become ill tempered when provoked or feeling in danger.
Karen,
Moose be fun to check out Moose Monday! A great way to start the week indeed! :)
Mary,
Thank you. Unlike the deer, they don't seem to like to stay still for pictures. :)
Hello Gerry and it has been a while since I read one of your posts. I like the real moose so much better than the flying one and the one in your photo is huge!
VB ;o)
Hi Gerry ~ Yaaaayy!! Live moose! Funny - if you hadn't told me I would have thought that was a chubby inflated reindeer in the slide show. Though my first reaction was That's not a moose! It's a beaver!
Liz
Hi Gerry, That's one chunky moose. Stay tuned, I actually have a Moose Monday submission for you today.
Gerry, how fascinating! We once saw a real moose on the side of the road when in Maine. They are HUGE! I was glad he didn't decide to storm our car...
OMG I am SO mad. I just wrote the post and submitted to members only but forgot to post to draft. (shouldn't have to - you know) but these @^%$^& proxy errors are just getting to be so frustrating.
So now I have to start all over again. You are lucky I like you well enough to redo it Gerry lol.
Does anyone know if staff has written a post about the errors? Are they being addressed????
Hi Gerry - Good catch! The only moose (meese? LOL) I've ever seen in person were one at Waterton Lakes that came up out of the water right by our boat and a young one that marched right down the main street in Banff when I was there on a ski trip. Neither time was I able to get a photo - phooey!
Hi Gerry - It's so wonderful to see a real moose again.
I didn't know that people had a stereotype of Canada being a land of flying moose until I saw the closing ceremonies of the Vancouver Olympics. I don't recall seeing an igloo but they seemed to have a large number of the stereotypes, eh (okay, except for a giant "EH?").
Jenny - There have been numerous comments and posts about the proxy errors and I've even seen posts where people are planning to reduce their reliance on ActiveRain. It requires more hardware as well as changes to their backend programming to handle all of the activity.
Hi Gerry! What a monster this guy is! About how much does one of these critters weigh?
Debi
Morning Gerry, you're a brave soul to get that close to the moose. Kudos to you for catching him before he tore off. I usually end up with a photo of only a nature background when trying to catch birds...just not fast enough. On second thought I'm not quiet enough!
But I won't give up :)
Liz,
Leave it to the Canadians to display the big inflatable beavers at the closing ceremony of the Vancouver winter Olympic games! :)
Jenny,
I am glad you came by to see the chunky moose. I enjoyed visitng your Moose Monday post.
Frank & Sharon,
They are huge and you don't realize how much till you see them in person.
Jenny,
You know that I like you very well too and I appreciate the time and effort you took for your latest Moose Monday post. Thank you! I do hope that whatever this latest AR glitch is, that it does get resolved quickly.
Susan,
Perhaps the third time you see a moose will be a charm and the time that you will be able to capture one with your camera. Now, if you captured one or two moose swimming in a lake and share it with us on AR, that would without a doubt end up being featured at Moose Monday.
Marc,
I am glad you enjoyed this real moose on Moose Monday!
It was a memorable closing ceremony to the 2012 winter Olympics and proved that the Canadians do have a great sense of humor and showing off all the stereotypes (I did not know about the land of the flying moose either but that was a good clue for me to post a real moose the following day on Moose Monday). :)
Cynthia,
Thank you for the chuckle you put on my face after reading your comment. I do not merit any mention of bravery. My camera's powerful zoom lens allowed me to take this photo of the moose from my back yard without any fear for my safety. I was not as close as you may think by looking at the photo. I would say I was more than 150 feet away from it and if it was running in any other direction than away from me, I would not be standing there and looking through my camera's lens.
Aww Gerry really? Flying moose on the closing Vancouver Olympics? Missed them. Now that would have been a sight!
Yes Al and Peggy, really!
I am sure you can find photos of those flying moose online. Check the link in comment #1 to see what you missed.
Hi Gerry,
Love that picture; how I wish I could post a REAL moose but all I have are the fake one. You guys up north are so lucky!
Toni,
You got a great moose collection. I enjoyed the photos you have posted so far on Moose Monday. Thank you for participating. Real moose or fake moose, what is important is to moosely have fun at Moose Monday! :)
Well thanks for clarifying that Gerry as I wipe a sweat bead off my forehead. I know the next piece of equipment I will invest in is a zoom! Lets see my B-Day isn't till till Dec. so maybe a it would make a fine St. Patrick's day gift, LOL!
