If We Could Only Re-elect Thomas Jefferson
Our government is experiencing so much partisanship that I wonder if they will be able to get anything done.
We are not able to work on our economic recovery while our elected officials keep posturing for control like roosters in a barnyard.
Like Thomas Jefferson said, "I own that I am not a friend to a very energetic government. It is always oppressive."
Jefferson also said, "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."
I must quote Jefferson one more time. He said, "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
CNN quoted Jefferson this week also when he said, "God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion."
He went on to explain that to preserve liberties, the people must preserve the spirit of resistance. Maybe we need to stop electing monarchs and start electing people to serve our interests.
