Ever thought about cd's to distribute your information?

By
Real Estate Agent with Former Agent

Have you ever thought of something different for your real estate fliers?  Yes, everyone uses paper fliers..some nicer than others.

I have been toying with the idea of using cd's to get the information out.  What are your thoughts on this?  Pro's, cons.....anything in general.

I have been searching for something to mount to my signs to put them in but until I find something I am just handing them out to interested parties.  I make them myself and it takes about 6 minutes each.

Below you will see my disc face design that I am working on.  I want it to resemble my business card and be catchy so people will want to take a look.  Sorry the picture is bad...it is a camera phone snap of my computer screen...go figure that one out...

Give me your thoughts on this.

I too am working on a CD...

If AOL Conquered the world with CD's then maybe I can conquer my town with them?

Mine will contain a self playing powerpoint that will run on any modern computer.

The basic deal is fishing for listings... hitting pain and pleasure for FSBO's, Expireds, Upsizers, Downsizers, but it also hits buyer services "I work for free and make it easy to find the right house at the right price....

It will include my TV commercial, some video's of client testimonials, videos of some team members and lenders explaining how they help me provide better service with a team approach than a jack of all trades realtor, etc....

Anybody else?  How many CD's are you distributing?  Mail or in person?  Where do you have them made?  Or do you make them yourself?

Jeff the idea is a very good one. For my listing presentation (ofcourse only bonafied appointments) I pull one out that I've printed up (less than 10 minutes work) with a picture of their home on the cover of the jewel case and on the cd itself. They never see it coming and 99% fo the time their so impressed to see their home that most of the regular objections (like commission) aren't even an issue.

I think the idea of distributing CD's instead of flyers is great. People tend to throw away flyers because they do not want their house cluttered. But the CD's,people are more likely to keep them. They might not want to buy or sell their home at the moment, but when the time comes, they will more than likely end up using your service. Especially if you have something on the CD's that is very helpful to them.

Great ideas, I have thought about doing this with my business directory. As I meet people I would like to hand out something like this so that I would be different.

I think a simple power point of what makes you different from your competition with video's of testimonials from past clients could be a great way to touch exprireds, fsbo's, new clients.

I'm going to start working on this!

not sure if i would watch someone if I picked it up. Once you get home with the dvd life is just so busy.  However I am interested in the ideal.  It just migth be a good marketing point for a new listings.

They have been around for awhile but I have not tried it. I prefer to either give them brochures or email information.

Okay, I have been toying with this idea also. I think it's great because it is different and innovative. I know nobody else in my area is doing it right now and I'd like to be the first. I was picturing more of a DVD concept, a photographic journey of the area, a sampling of house tours and the like. How do you make one of these? I can't get one to just play through.

Its funny. I commented on this post a while ago. Now I am back. I even blogged about doing a CD-Business cards. But I want to do a CD-Rom. Is there any software that you use? I am very interested in doing them instead of flyers. Great post.

Windows movie maker will do it.

This is a program built in to most modern windows computers.  It can take still photos or short video clips and string them together, add transitions, fades, titles, etc, and output for dvd, cd, or web use.  It's not the best but it is free : )

Anybody else have a suggestion?  (er, um....  besides Get a Mac) <LOL>

I think the cd is a great idea. Use virtual tours and a good listing presentation to show your value to any listing. Value is the most important thing and I think it comes across better in a cd

I just don't see the CD as a good marketing tool.  The people have to take the time to load it, open it etc.  And, I find people are leary of CDs because of viruses.  Agents in my area have tried it without much success.  Seller's may be impressed by it.

Yes, I'm working on something similar. I'm using a power point presentation with narration. I have a light scribe drive and use the discs that go with it. Not in color, just gold and black but it looks good.

I have used micro cd's to burn several listings on and mail to the top dogs in my MLS. I also use them to give away to buyers and at Open Houses.

Seller's love to get a copy to show to their friends.

I have Windows Movie Maker but didn't spend too much time playing around with it. I think actual video footage of listings would deliver more pizzazz than my plain ol' power point presentation.

I think it's a great idea! I've been working on a couple for my business! I have one that is a DVD for the FSBO's and Expireds and one that's a CD for listings. You can include virtual tour links of your listings for the customers in it or virtual tours of your area for your relocation packages. Also live links to your websites, your blogging page, your activerain profile, and whatever else you like. True, it doesn't work for everyone, but the younger generation of buyers likes the technology, the anonimity, the ease of use and immediate results.

I think this is a great idea to use as an educational piece.  I do believe that it is just one piece of the puzzle and you still have to follow-up over and over again.  I love the basic idea of the CD and this post has given me some great ideas on how to use it.  I think there is an endless way to use CD to generate some interest and curiosity among expireds, FSBOs and even your sphere.  Thanks everyone!!

JT:  How is the CD working out?  Have you got it done?  What type of response are you getting from it?  What did you decide for the cover?

JT, just stopping by to see if you have had any success, or are still in the planning phases.  I am considering a DVD for sellers to provide them with information.
