Beware of this insurance company. In a transaction right now that involves an REO property. We're almost to the finish line. The Lender's underwriter has finished with their requests and is ready to draw documents. All that is missing is an insurance binder. My buyer calls her insurance company, Ameriprise. The Insurance company will not write a policy on the property until they see a copy of the home inspection. An unusual request, but That's what they are claiming is holding up the binder. They supply a fax number, and off it goes. The next day, we still don't have a binder. They claim they have not seen the home inspection yet (yes, this is beginning to sound like a short sale ). I email it to the representative. We contact them the next day. Ameriprise will not write a binder until we have an HVAC inspection and put a flush mount lite and a TOILET ROLL HOLDER in the bathroom! Can you believe this? I said to myself "Enough Nonsense" (well that's sort of what I said). I call my LOCAL insurance representative. Give him the information, and he speaks to my buyer. We have a binder in approximately 2 hours, and can now draw docs. In 7 years I have never run into this from an insurance company. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before? Amperiprise is still trying to contact my buyer to find out what happened. I emailed them to let them know what we did to solve the problem, but they have yet to respond. Home is now closed with a new insurance company.
Never heard of Ameriprise. Where are they located? Hopefully I will never run into them - I'm sure their customer service is just as bad after the sale.
Are you serious? I have heard of insurance companies requesting a 4 point inspection but never a detailed one.
Thanks for the heads up.
And yet that Home Inspection is in the record on line for all to see in the future. Yes I have had an insurance company ask, we said in and obtained insurance else where. It was in my clients best interest.
Thank you for bringing that to other agents atention.
Ameriprise does some of the insurance for Costco. My buyer was in the Costco Insurance propgram.
Hi Geoff ~ I did for the first time recently hear about an insurance company asking for the inspection report. Not my transaction and I'm pretty sure the answer was no (and the result may very well have been a new insurance co.). That is absurd!! I guess it's one way to say no to the business. Rational thought seems to be going out of style. Yeegads!
