If you watched the Vancouver Winter Olympics (and who didn't?!), you may have noticed that a freestyle skier with signature pigtails popping out of her helmet - Hannah Kearney - won the first gold medal for the United States.
New Englanders, and New Hampshirites in particular, are beyond excited because Hannah's a hometown girl. She is a member of the Waterville Valley Black and Blue Trail Smashers ski club, better known as BBTS, and has been coached by legendary freestyle coach, Nick Preston, of Waterville Valley, NH.
Learn more about the history of freestyle skiing - and its birth right here in Waterville Valley, NH - by watching this excellent television program produced by WMUR's newsmagazine, NH Chronicle.
Cheers!
