Another new way for consumers to choose a real estate agent is about to make its debut. It's called ePerks.com and it is coming soon to a zip code near you. Before it goes public, agents like me are laying out monthly fees in the hopes of finding another way of introducing ourselves to the public. I've never been a big believer in offering rebates to clients, but this service gives a chance to offer money back, PLUS creative incentives like dinner for two, theatre tickets or even a flat screen T.V. We'll know soon if "ePerks works", as it rolls out to the public at the end of the month.

Here is a press release: Online real estate marketing is set for revolution on July 30, 2007 when ePERKS makes its official launch at http://www.eperks.com

Residential real estate agents now have the unique opportunity to lock in exclusive territories with the soon-to-launch service marketplace that promises to deliver professional local services to consumers, but at substantially lower prices than what's currently available in the general marketplace.

A dynamic and competitive online service shopping destination, ePERKS.com is where consumers can freely search for publicized real estate agents and other professionals who are offering their services at competitively lower prices and with significant perks. Consumers benefit by being in control of how and when they contact an agent, while agents benefit by owning exclusive territories and working with highly motivated real estate prospects.

A product of Brabus Ventures Corporation, ePERKS is the brainchild of online veteran Ben Behrouzi. Behrouzi was most recently Co-founder, CTO and Chief of Product at Reply.com, an online lead generation portal for automotive dealers and real estate agents.

Behrouzi's latest venture offers significant incentives to consumers through an exclusive service community set to change real estate marketing online. "ePERKS is a revolutionary new online service marketplace. A place where consumer and service professional connect at will, when ready and with properly aligned expectations," explains Behrouzi.

While still in stealth mode and with less than one month remaining until the site launches, more than 4,600 service providers have joined the program nationwide. For real estate agents, ePERKS provides a simple, public, streamlined way of reaching consumers -- and in turn, rewards consumers in a very significant way when they work with ePERKS agents.

ePERKS launches its consumer side website on Monday July 30, 2007.

Chris, you have a good summary of what ePERKS is all about.  Here are a couple of other things.  The prospect registers with ePERKS and can get paid through ePERKS.  Thus the agent simply sends in a "referral" fee in the neighborhood of 20%. ePERKS takes about 4-5% and mails out a check to the client.   ePERKS is not directing any of their agents to provide any particular PERK or % amount but is suggesting about 15.5%.  I would educate my clients that this is not like free money.  It is a recognition that if people save me time, I can save them money.   (In my way of thinking a rebate suggests you are overcharging most people.)  I'm happy to make it worthwhile for someone who does the work of finding me on their own, evaluating me, using the Internet to find homes, getting bank preapproval, and finally contacting me.  Like most referred clients, these take less time.  At least that's the theory.  We'll have to see.

Hey Chris,

Just got off the phone with an eperks rep.  Well, I signed up, and I'm already doubting my decision.  Soo, I came to active rain to check into what other people are saying.  Didn't find much info, but you did give a pretty good summary of what was explained to me on the phone.  Anyhow, just wondering if you've gotten any leads from it?  I've got 1 exclusive territory, and about 5 standard shared territories.  I sure hope it's not a hoax.  I just don't have the budget to throw advertising dollars down the drain.  Your insight would be helpful.  Thanks!!!
