I first joined Active Rain a few months ago. I quickly learned that in order to get the most exposure for your blog post, it was important to submit them to different groups. So I joined groups that I thought would be right up my alley. A few that jumped out at me were Blogging and SEO, The Art of Marketing You, Online Marketing, Rainmaking and a few more. I enjoyed reading the various featured posts and even had the privilege of having a few of my own posts featured. Each day I looked forward to seeing some of the spotlight posts from each group. Yet every time I ventured over to the Blogging and SEO group, I noticed the featured posts never changed. Additionally, I also saw a few posts that obviously didn’t belong in the group. It wasn’t until Maureen spoke up that it all started to make sense.
A Ship without a Captain
As it turns out, the founder of the group no longer participates on ActiveRain. Because of this, there really hasn’t been anyone keeping the group fresh. Maureen knew that the Blogging and SEO group was too valuable to continue to go unmanaged. She asked someone to step in and help moderate the group. Greg Fox offered to help. He also mentioned my name as someone who might be able to offer some insight. After giving it some thought, I agreed to help out.
So what’s in Store?
One of the first changes you will see is a new Group Graphic. I thought we needed something fresh and took the liberty of creating a new logo. Maureen, Greg and I will be working together to create guidelines for posting as well as laying out what would classify as a “featured post.” So, if you haven’t already, I would encourage you to join the Blogging and SEO group. And if your posts are related to Blogging and SEO, then be sure to publish that post to the group. After all, it could be one of our first features!
To Greater Success,
Brad Carroll
