How Do You Leverage Facebook In Your Real Estate Business?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Roost.com

Most of us are aware that Facebook is the dominant force when it comes to social platforms. But did you know that Facebook is nipping on the heels of Google in regards to Internet dominance? Here are some Quick Facts (according to Facebook , Alexa.com and Compete.com):

  • Facebook is the #2 website globally in total page views behind Google; should pass Google in first half of 2010.
  • At 30%, Facebook has the same global reach that Google had 1 year ago.
  • Both Google and Facebook should have global reach of ~50% by end of 2010.
  • 2 years ago Facebook’s global reach was just 6%.
  • Internet users spend 3x as much time on a Facebook page as they spend on a Google page.
  • Over 700mm pieces of content are uploaded on Facebook daily (eg. 100mm photos daily).
  • Average user spends 55 minutes/day (~23% of total time online) on Facebook.
  • 50% of users log on daily.
  • 67% of US online users are on Facebook.

So what does this mean to your real estate business? A Lot!

It means that if you have not integrated a Facebook strategy into your overall marketing plan, you could be missing a huge opportunity to connect to a whole new stream of business.

And to help provide support for that Facebook strategy, real estate technology company Roost has recently launched the FREE Social Real Estate Application which is the first app of its kind to offer agents the opportunity to:

·         Highlight their local market knowledge from a Facebook Business Page

·         Present important market data from the likes of Roost, Altos Research, Education.com and Walk Score™ for the city they service

(Note: The application is available for a little more the 10,000 cities in approximately 70 of the largest metro areas in the country)

·         Easily customize and install a local real estate tab on their Facebook Business Page in about 5 minutes

Some of the agents that have already integrated the application into their Facebook Business Page include Brad Coy, Heather Elias and Jay Thompson.

So if you want to bring a professional presence to your Facebook Business page, click on over to the Roost Social Real Estate Platform and have your real estate tab up in a few short minutes.

We’ve also created the following set up tutorial that takes you through the entire process.

Finally, you can always call of email me if you have any questions or concerns.

I made my first "facebook sale" a few months ago. There is a nuance to it, but like anything alse, a good networking tool will serve anyone in this business well.

Keene, NH - New England at its Best!

This was very easy to set up and, surprisingly, Keene was in the list! ;-)  I'm still playing around with it and found one of my listings which I had updated to reflect a price change was still coming up with the old price.  I posted a query about that on the Roost FB page and it's being looked into.

Customer service from Derek/Roost has been quick and responsive.  I'm looking forward to seeing how the issue with my listing is resolved. So far, so good.

Hi Derek, There is absolutely NOTHING for my area - I haven't heard of most of the Ohio towns that are listed, except Columbus and Bainbridge...Nothing for Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Hudson...Northeast Ohio doesn't exist on Roost! Also, who gets the leads from Roost? Anyway, I checked it out...nothing there for me at this time.

I responded to everyone last night but it didn't save properly. So here I am again. I'm going to respond to all questions by referencing the comment number. After that, if you want additional information or need another question answered, please email me at derek.overbey@roost.com.

#8: Hi Marianne. The one bit of advice I would give you is just focus on putting up great local content on your fan page. Now the Google is indexing the pages, it will help you rise in the organic search.

#11: Hi Pam. What city do you service and what MLS is that in?

#18: Hi Terri. The app is actually city specific not regionally specific. Walnut Creek is a city we service and will be listed under California.

#19: Hi Keith: Actually the 50+ demographic is one of the fastest growing on Facebook.

#21: Hi Jen. We would love to work with you if our information is not correct. On the name issue, the beta app is tied to your personal profile so if you use your maiden name there, unfortunately it will show on the app. Why don't you email me and we can chat further.

#27: Hi Lori. We are looking into Pullman.

#29: Hi Jared. What MLS is that?

#30: Hi Leslie. Have you created a Fan Page. They are separate but you have to have a personal profile in order to set up a fan page. Email me if you need additional help.

#32: Hi John. Can you provide what MLS Mountain Home, AR is in?

#34: Hi Debbie. Can you provide the city you service and what MLS you are in.

#44: Hi Scott. We are working on those coverage areas and will be back if we can make that a reality.

#45: Hi Renee. Right now it goes back to Roost.com but we have a version coming out very soon that will give options on where that goes. We will update you as soon as that happens.

#48: Hi Mike. We are working on that as one of our future releases.

#50: Hi Christianne. We are working hard on the MLS that services those areas. It has been challenging. Hopefully soon.

#53: Hi Angela. That is what all applications ask. We need that in order to create the local tab and have it go up on your fan page. Email if you still need more assurance.

#54: Hi Marc. What city and what MLS do you belong to. I will investigate.

#55: Hi Cathy. Did your tab ever show. What is the page called? email me at derek.overbey@roost.com

#58: Hi Lia. Utah is on our radar.

#59: Hi Drew. It adds another tab to your page. Will not mess up your custom tabs. Facebook doesn't allow that.

#60: Hi again Cathy. The beta version link goes back to roost.com In a upcoming release we will have different options for that link. Please check back with us.

#62: Hi Hanna. Unfortunately with this beta version, we can only link one profile. We are looking at a future release that will handle team environments.

#64: Hi Nancy. What city and MLS are you in?

#81: Hi Erica. What city and MLS are you referencing? I would love to try and help.

#87: Hi Dawn. Are you in Cleveland? We are trying to get that board on the platform. The link goes to back to roost.com on this beta version but we are working on a couple different solution that will come out very soon.

#88: Hi Wendy. Why don't you email me at derek.overbey@roost.com and we will try to help you.

Thanks Derek,  I thought I had Roost all set up, but, it turns out, it needs to be re-installed periodically.  So, I've entered all the data.  I don't know if it has been saved and is shown in my Roost tab.  Any help with understanding this better would be appreciated
