Sallie,
Absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing had not seen a Japanese Magnolia before. All the best
Sallie, that is a beautiful flower, and I do think you are right, Spring has sprung.
Ron, Alexandra, and Malcolm, thanks for stopping by. This is the first warm day when it's actually warm and DRY ... dry enough to rake leaves and trim back bushes in the backyard. And the magnolia smells so good. Hope you're having a great weekend, too.
Sallie - That's really a delightful looking photo, and a gorgeous flower! I think it is the pure white against the blue sky that makes it so stunning!
Myrl, I was really surprised that she got such a good photo with her i-phone. She posted it on facebook, and when I saw it there I had to ask if she took that photo. It's such a beautiful day. She was out there taking pictures and spring cleaning in the backyard. Then, of course, we all had to get out there and clean up together. Our backyard is showing some slight promise of recovering from this hard winter, and that's a good thing.
Sallie what a gorgeous photo. I wish I could say that spring is beginning to peak thru, but we're still covered with snow, though it is starting to melt away.
Tell your daughter the photo is gorgeous against that blue sky. Thanks for passing it along.
Sallie, That is an absolutely gorgeous flower photo. Your daughter is quite the photographer!
Lora, I hope it melts soon, and you will see spring's first flowers popping up.
Marlene, thanks, I will tell her.
Wanda, thank you, too, and thank you all for stopping by.
I don't think it has enough petals, and the petals are not skinny enough, to be a star magnolia. To me it does look like a Japanese magnolia (Magnolia x soulangiana), also called a saucer magnolia or a tulip tree.

Thanks, Russel. I always enjoy knowing the names of my plants and trees and birds. Have a great weekend.
Thanks, Ann. I'll tell her you said so. I printed a larger copy of the photo and framed it ... turned out nice.
Hey, Sallie - I see this is your most recent post. Hope all is well with you and yours, that you're really busy, but that you'll be back soon to Play in the Rain with us. Take advantage of that love affair between Google and ActiveRain!
