WOW. The numbers are growing and they are not pretty.  We currently have 174 properties for sale in my town. Of the 174 properties, 43 are Short Sales, Foreclosures, Government Owned or Bank Owned properties.  These numbers are growing everyday and we need to start focusing on sustaining our neighborhoods home values.  We can not all become statistics or can we.  We need the help of our City Government to help turn around our housing situation.  How might they help us First, I believe they need to understand that to keep your current residents here you need to not fall into the State/County traps by allowing our Assessed Values to drop and taxes rise.  Second, I am sure I speak for many residents of Rochester when I say we will not take on a millage to help the City maintain City Services if they do not help us.  Third, the City needs to stop making what seem to be elaborate cuts when they really aren't all they are cracked up to be.  Cutting costs or jusy moving costs around.  Our biggest City costs are City Services and Pension/Benefits of Employees.   Everyone should feel the cuts even at the City level.

In the midst of the housing situation we now find people being publicly humiliated if their taxes are not paid.  I was told you should not criticize in public.   Are we going to start publicizing every individual who is having a hard time paying their taxes, mortgage etc. or just business.  We are all in this together and should start helping our neighbors whether business or residence instead of shooting ourselves in the foot.  What is there to gain when we publicly humiliate someone, not a thing.  Greed comes in all forms and I think City officials need to really look at their actions against others.

Attention City of Rochester Residents we need more residents in attendance at meetings to make our city officials accountable.  When you sit at home they view that as everything is OK.  Is everything ok?  Are you really happy with your neighbors, neighborhood, and city.   I am not happy with the sudden changes on the council which has brought many of us to question their purpose.  Interesting how out of the woodwork you find many of the council are focusing on their NEXT STEP, not OUR STEP.  I feel those who are running for other offices or positions should RESIGN so we can have people on the council who are focused on ALL OF US.

These are some of the happening in Rochester...stay tuned...
