Don't let the trees in our park get cut down!  Come make your voice heard. They plan to cut the trees on March 22!!!!!
PG&E is planning to cut and remove approximately 140 the trees in T.J. Martin and Jeffery Fontana Parks.   The meeting date is:      March 3, Wednesday   Meeting time:                6:30 pm-8:00pm   Meeting location:         Almaden Winery Community Center
                                 5730 Chambertin Drive
San Jose, CA   At the meeting representatives from PG&E, Council person Nancy Pyle office, City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department will present the details of the removal of approximately 140 trees.

According PG&E, these trees interfere with the overhead electrical lines. The trees were planted by the City of San Jose many years ago.   T.J. Martin Park Neighborhood Association, friends of T.J. Martin Park and Jeffrey Fontana Park have been communicating to Nancy Pyle's office that the trees should be trimmed and not cut and disposed as PG&E is proposing. If a tree must be cut because it is diseased, then it should be replaced on a three to one basis. We have requested documentary evidence that shows what State and Federal laws allow PG&E to propose this action. Also we have asked for other documentation from the City and PG&E that would support this action. The City and PG&E have not responded.
