Every community has a similar menu of non profit organizations. Your post is an excellent reminder of how important each and everyone of them is to a community. Donating even an hour a week of your time and skill set will make a difference and be remembered.

I love my job, I truly do.  But my most fulfilling experiences have all come from volunteer opportunities.

You're right about this.

There are plenty of benefits to volunteering, too.  You can pick up skills, experience, and contacts.  Most people overlook these, because they chafe at the thought of working for "free."
