"head out on the highway." (Steppenwolf, Born to Be Wild)
First time home buyers in Temecula, Murrieta and other parts of Southwest Riverside and San Diego County who are "lookin' for adventure" will get a chance to relive the past this weekend at the Spring edition of the Temecula Rod Run to be held in Old Town Temecula on March 12 and 13.
Featuring pre-1974 cars, this semi-annual event gives Temecula a chance to show off some of the finest restored and "souped up" cars in California. Proceeds from this charity event benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Southwest County.
You might catch a '48 Ford like "Greased Lightning" from the movie Grease or a classic 1933 Ford like the "Elimninator" owned by ZZ Top front man Billy Gibbons.
Some people well tell you that the "Yellow" coupe in the movie American Graffiti single-handedly brought back Hot Rod cars.
How about the classic '55 Chevy driven by Han Indiana Solo (Harrison Ford)?
There will be hundreds of classic cars just like these icons from some our greatest movies.
The Friday night cruise is an event not to be missed, the show cars will cruise down Old Town Front street with their headers uncapped and their Cragars polished. I know this ol' Boomer will be out there trying to catch a little piece of his past and feelin' a little "heavy metal thunder"
The Show and Shine is on Saturday, March 13 and admission is FREE.
Come on out and join one of the many events that make Temecula such a great place to call home.
