Updating Bathrooms - Dated Tile Solutions

By
Home Stager with Creative Concepts-Home Staging and Contracting, Salem Oregon CCB #180695

Last week I was called for a staging consultation where the agent and home seller thought one of the biggest problems was the turquoise tile in the bathroom.  It looked dated.

bathroom with teal or turquoise tilesFrom my perspective, that was an easy challenge to tackle.  Turquoise is one of the “hot” new colors for 2010, and so bringing dated tile to look 2010 will be easy!

Still don’t think it is a color you can fall in love with?

Here are excerpts from an interview with Maria Killam – color expert and author of the blog “Colour Me Happy”.

The combination I’m using in the bathroom update aren’t included here.  We’ll show off our decorating with turquoise success here next week!

From the BluLabel Bungalow interview:

With turquoise as the Pantone Color of the Year, can you give us three color palettes that contain the color turquoise?

I love the sophisticated look of turquoise with black and white!  Here it is with the addition of yellow:

Trevella - I think if Oregon people still haven't caught on much to loving turquoise yet much -- but I'm seeing it lots in clothing this spring.

Kathy - I love the third combination best . . . never would have thought of it!

Thanks Michelle and Wanda - It's always fun to make these bathrooms really pop isn't it!

Mary Lou - I love chocolate brown as well . . . ever count how many chocolate brown towels you own for staging?  It goes with so much!

Margaret can't wait to see how you update the bathroom. That's always one of my biggest challenges.... taking dated decor and making it all look fresh and new!

By the way just noticed your new photo - looks great!!

Z Gallerie has some great turquoise accents here in Portland, but they are calling them "Peacock". I love turquoise with orange, another hot color this year!
